Focusing on the stories that have been reported, brushed over or that are chosen to not be talked about, JordanRiver Michaels represents multiple gay hate crimes that have effect communities in America. Each assemblage embodies objects that reflect a specific crime. Working with the darkest black paint known to man. Michaels, focuses on form and storytelling with little to no textual information. Wanting the viewer to experience these work with no bias or homophobia. Using items such as newspaper, latex, plaster and condoms. Each work is masked in black paint with little form or texture visible. The viewer must get close and personal with each creation to understand its value and weight.
